Drug shortages have become increasingly common over the past decade. Drug shortages have had a clinical impact on many of the commonly used medications in emergency departments, specifically sterile injectable medications. Better understanding the implications of drug shortages and mitigation strategies is critical to maintaining patient safety and ensuring clinical quality goals are achieved.
